Interactive Webinar Training

WPLC111 - Introduction to PLC course (1 CPD Point)

Not every industrial application demands a complex PLC. A few inputs and outputs are often sufficient to automate a simple application quickly and reliably.

A small and simple PLC that has an equally uncomplicated programming language can quickly be learned.

This unique interactive webinar will explain the basic principles and components and of a PLC and will teach participants basic programming to create accurate and clear programs.

Each participant will design his/her own program at the comfort of his/her home or workplace while interacting with the facilitator.

CoDeSys V3.5 is freely downloadable software that will be used during the training.

Content, outcomes and exercises are based on the "Introduction to PLC" face-to-face training.

Target group:

Design engineers, plant engineers, instrumentation technicians, programmers, maintenance staff and instructors.

This platform makes training possible for those who are not able to attend face-to-face training courses.

In-house custom courses are also available on request.

The content includes:

  • Basic design and control of a programmable logic controller.
  • Input and output properties.
  • Hardware and software familiarisation.
  • Programming languages: ladder diagram, instruction list and function block diagram.
  • Basic command sets.
  • Creating, loading and testing industry-related sequence programs.
  • Creating time delay and counter functions.
  • Program editing.
  • Fault analysis.

Outcomes

After completing this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Read and create hardware configurations.
  • Create and commission logic associations and sequences as PLC programs.
  • Implement modes such as automatic, manual, and emergency stop.
  • Combine various program modules to structured programs.
  • Identify and eliminate faults using the status display.
  • Identify reasons for machine stoppages with the aid of the PLC program.

Duration:

The webinar will take place from 8:00 - 10:00 CAT Monday - Friday (unless otherwise specified). Attendance of all the sessions is compulsory.

Assessment and Certification:

An assignment is to be completed at the end of the course after which participants will receive a Festo certificate of "Successfully completing the Introduction to PLC Webinar", based on the participant's level of understanding and practical application of the submitted assignments.
