In view of the expected quantities of used batteries, automation is an economical solution for disassembly. Working safely and cleanly plays a major role in this highly sensitive process, so that people and the environment can be protected from hazards caused by improperly leaking sensitive or aggressive substances. The disassembly of the packs into modules, battery cells and other components is basically divided into four work steps:

  • Checking the cooling circuit
  • Cut open the adhesive bead (sealing compound) between the top and bottom part of the housing
  • Fixing the housing top part into place
  • Lifting the housing top part

The core of this application is a space-saving three-dimensional gantry in which the housing top part is disassembled fully automatically. This requires a high degree of flexibility and precision, as batteries are designed differently depending on the manufacturer and vehicle model.
