Pneumatic systems are still the tool of choice for simple movement and positioning tasks. In an increasingly digitized world, however, electrical automation and a continuous flow of information from the workpiece to the controller to the cloud are becoming indispensable. This enables you to reduce initial setup times, ensure that production is cost-effective, and manage shorter product life cycles. As a result, the higher up-front costs of electric automation solutions are offset by savings during operation. And initial setup is now also quick and easy. How is this possible? With our Simplified Motion Series.

Simple Electric Solutions Using Simplified Motion Series (SMS) Axes with Distributed I/O CPX-AP-I

For simple control of remote I/O and IO-Link devices via fieldbus (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, PROFINET, or Modbus TCP), use the CPX-AP-I distributed I/O solutions. In this video, the IO-Link master CPX-AP-I-4IOL is used to control multiple IO-Link devices via an EtherCAT fieldbus.

Discover the Simplified Motion Series and the Design Tool in a Series of Videos

In the first video, you’ll learn about the features of our simple electric automation solution. In the second video, you’ll learn about all aspects of the Simplified Motion Series – explained in a very simple way. The third video explains how to use the Solution Finder to design your solution step by step in one tool.

The Simplicity of Pneumatics Combined with the Benefits of Electric Automation

Pneumatic systems are still the ideal choice for simple movement and positioning tasks. Electric automation, however, makes it possible for information to flow continuously from the workpiece to the controller all the way to the cloud, enabling you to reduce initial setup times, manufacture cost-effectively, and handle shorter product life cycles.

Simplified Motion Series products are ideally suited for this purpose. They consist of different electromechanical components with an application-optimized combination of motor and controller, known as an integrated actuator. You can start up the system quickly and easily – without an external servo controller. The actuators are ideal for simple movements between two mechanical end positions, including an intermediate position, without sacrificing optimized motion characteristics, gently cushioned travel into the end position, or simplified press-fitting and clamping functions.

“With our Simplified Motion Series, we have managed to combine the simplicity of pneumatics with the advantages of electric actuator technology. This provides our customers with a cost-effective, electric solution for the simplest motion and positioning tasks.”
