Metal is found in many devices and machines that we use in everyday life. In the metalworking industry, the focus is on planning and executing manufacturing processes as well as inspecting, maintaining and repairing equipment and machines. The main focus of the training is to impart good knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes, but also of joining and assembly techniques that are required for the manufacture, maintenance and monitoring of technical systems.
Festo Didactic integrates CNC training into its learning system to meet the demands of modern metalworking education and training. CNC programming and machining, an important task for many metalworking companies, places high demands on the learner. The machine manufacturer EMCO offers a unique training concept consisting of high-quality machines, modular software and supporting teachware.EMCO is the leading machine manufacturer in the field of CNC training. All machines are adapted to the special requirements of the training situation: Safety technology according to CE directives, control variety, space requirements and price. With the machines of EMCO a universal solution from the conventional up to the CNC machine can be offered.

Standard CNC machines are permanently connected to a CNC control. If you need a different control for training, the change almost always means a new machine purchase. This is different with the PC-controlled lathes and milling machines from EMCO: Change the control keyboard in just a few steps, call up different software, span! This way you can use all common industrial controls on only one machine. The control software is also available as an offline programming station. In combination with individually available control keyboards, we will be pleased to plan your complete CNC training laboratory with different controls such as SINUMERIK, Fanuc or HEIDENHAIN.
EMCO's CAMConcept provides you with a CAD/CAM system for turning and milling with 3D graphic simulation. Design simple parts with the integrated CAD functionality and create your CNC program even without control-specific CNC knowledge. As an option, the WinNC machine control can also be supplemented with 3D simulation. Win3D-View enables a simple 3D simulation for turning and milling.
The complexity of today's apprenticeship professions can be excellently illustrated on our realistic systems. Here we draw on years of experience in the FMS/CIM sector and offer solutions in which modern manufacturing technologies and the latest control technology are used. In addition, thanks to the exchangeable control system of the EMCO Concept CNC machines, you are always at the cutting edge of CNC technology.
The machine elements supplied, such as pulleys, gears, chains and bearings, are suitable for industrial use and yet small enough to allow experiments to be carried out comfortably in the work platform. To optimize organization, storage and inventory control, the various components are clearly arranged on storage boards. These can either be mounted on the wall, on the separately available suspension or stored in the optional workbench. Building on the work platform, the system can be expanded with six expansion stages. The first two stages build on each other and focus primarily on basic skills relating to the assembly and commissioning of belt, chain and gear drives.Level 3 allows students to become familiar with coupling and shaft alignment procedures and to study the design and assembly of bearings and seals in housings and shafts. Stage 4 covers the basics of applying and decelerating loads and building a linear slide with ball screws and linear bearings. Two final packages deal with vibrations and vibration measurement in mechanical drives up to the analysis of the shaft form.

How do you currently teach dimensional metrology? Do you provide enough training opportunities for learners to develop the skills they need in the workplace? Dimensional metrology is the application-based discipline of metrology - the science of measurement - that deals with product dimensions. Accurate measurement of product dimensions enables quality assurance and strict adherence to design specifications and standards.
Measuring physical dimensions - length, angle, roundness, diameter and more - of many products and components is part of the daily work of numerous job descriptions in manufacturing and industrial companies.
For example, workpieces produced by machine technicians and machinists must meet technical specifications within allowable tolerances. Quality assurance specialists rely on measurements and their evaluation to ensure product uniformity and identify problems in the manufacturing process. Industrial mechanics and maintenance technicians measure a variety of industrial components for installation, maintenance and repair tasks.
Developing dexterity and expertise in the use, maintenance, and even storage of common hand-held measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, rulers, gauges...) as well as the proper interpretation of engineering drawings are fundamental skills that companies expect of their employees.
Extensive hands-on experimentation is central to increasing dimensional metrology skills. Learners experience the optimal preparation for the working world by performing a variety of laboratory activities with variable complexity and close practical relevance
Given the importance of the subject area for manufacturing engineering trainees, we have developed a comprehensive learning solution for systematically building skills in dimensional metrology. These ready-to-use equipment sets contain all the necessary instruments and components for measurement tasks, as well as complete teaching materials. They offer instructors full flexibility in integrating dimensional metrology into their courses.
Our complete learning solution consists of three equipment sets:
Basic Dimensional Metrology
Teach basic skills for length and angle measurement. The focus for entry-level workers is the appropriate selection and proper use of common handheld measuring devices. Another learning objective is reading various scales and units of measure.

Calculation of form and position tolerances (GD&T)
There is more to dimensional metrology than basic tools and terminology. Workers often operate state-of-the-art precision measuring equipment. Technical drawings of workpieces and assemblies contain important information about dimensions and their allowable deviations. It is critical that skilled workers correctly interpret the symbols and values contained in drawings and 3D representations

Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Closely related to dimensional metrology is statistical process control. This important control tool is used by quality assurance specialists. When monitoring and controlling production processes, the focus is on early detection and prevention of problems. Statistical process control training focuses more on computer-based tools than on the handling of measuring instruments. This completes the dimensional metrology training.
