The pneumatics trainer from Festo Didactic had been installed at the current SBBS site for 20 years. It was necessary to replace the outdated learning systems in order to enable more modern teaching methods.
Festo Didactic was chosen as the first point of contact due to its already very good experience with the previous technology and the limited availability of further training for this special technology in Thuringia. Planning for the modernization of the pneumatics laboratory at SBBS Eichsfeld began in 2019.
The main aim of the modernization was to bring the teaching equipment up to the latest state of the art, particularly for cutting machine operators, industrial mechanics, machine and plant operators and students in the field of control technology.
The new cabinet has numerous advantages for teaching. By moving the compressor to the adjacent room, the learning environment is now quieter. The doubling of workstations enables individual training for pupils, which also makes performance assessment much easier. Thanks to the updated technology, the transfer into practice is more successful. Each workstation is now equipped with a PLC. In contrast to before, where only one PLC was available for demonstration purposes. An additional expansion package with modern measurement technology facilitates the teaching of theory and practice.
The new laboratory strengthens the educational location of Leinefelde in northern Thuringia and supports us with its modern, high-quality and future-proof technology.
Thanks to further training from Festo Didactic, our colleagues now have the opportunity to exploit the full potential of the laboratory. As the training was advertised via the Thillm (Thuringian school portal), colleagues from other schools can also familiarize themselves with the new technology.
