Pressure regulator from Festo

Pressure regulators are used in pneumatic applications to set and keep the pressure level of a machine constant. For many applications, the pressure of compressors supplying compressed air in the range of 10...16 bar is too high, so it must be reduced using pressure regulators. Excessive pressure leads to higher wear in the application or unnecessarily high energy costs, a pressure level that is too low will not achieve the desired performance in terms of speed or force. The consequences are quality fluctuations and faulty results.

Mode of operation of pressure regulators

Incoming compressed air flows from the input of the pressure regulator with the primary pressure, also called input pressure, to the valve seat. The pressure regulator controls the compressed air as it flows through the valve to the desired secondary pressure, also called the output pressure. This is controlled by operating the rotary knob according to individual requirements. Actuating the knob also moves a spring, which exerts force on the top of the control diaphragm, which in turn pushes up or down. The valve tappet is actuated and the valve bore opens. When the secondary pressure drops, the spring force on the diaphragm is greater than the output pressure acting against it. This pushes the valve tappet further down, which increases the valve opening and causes the secondary pressure to rise again.

Pressure regulators from the MS-B series

In our new MS-B series, you will find the 2nd generation MS-LR-B pressure control valve, which is our attractively priced polymer series with a technical focus. It has grid dimensions of 25, 40 or 62 mm and is easy to handle due to modern polymer materials. The air pressure is controlled and locked by a rotary knob, while the integrated primary and secondary exhausting with reverse flow behavior support stable control behavior. The MS-LR-B pressure regulator is available with a pressure gauge or G1/8 adapter ("A8").

Pressure regulators from the MS series

Our "One MS worldwide" offers a wide range of pressure regulators. From standard integrated reverse flow function and secondary exhausting to high flow rate performance and very good control characteristics – the MS series offers the right product for every application. It is available in four sizes, with mechanical pressure gauge or alternatively with pressure sensor with and without display. In addition, all pressure regulators of the MS series can be installed modularly in service unit combinations according to the simple modular system of the MS series. Optionally, the pressure regulators can also be configured for use in Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22 potentially explosive areas and with UL approval.

D series pressure regulators

In the D series, you will find the LR-DB pressure regulator with the following pressure range: 7 bar output pressure and 10 bar input pressure. Another characteristic feature is the high flow rate performance with good pressure stability. It is available in one size with a flow rate of up to approx. 1,300 l/min.

Pressure regulators, individual devices

Irrespective of the series, you can also acquire individual devices from us that are suitable for more sensitive applications. For example, the LRP and LRPS precision pressure regulators are the ideal choice for required pressure hystereses of 0.02 bar. Both regulators enable precise pressure adjustment in both static and dynamic applications. Operating pressure fluctuations are compensated. They are available in sizes 40 mm with ⅛" connection thread and 300 l/min standard nominal flow rate as well as 50 mm with ¼" connection thread and 2,300 l/min standard nominal flow rate.

The PREL electrically controlled pressure regulator is ideally suited for high-pressure applications with a pressure regulation range up to 40 bar. The output pressure of the PREL electric pressure regulator is determined by the VPPL proportional pressure regulator by means of an integrated pressure sensor and compared internally with the setpoint value. In the event of deviations, the VPPL controls the PREL regulator until the output pressure has reached the setpoint value. A soft-start function is integrated in PREL as standard. In addition, there are pressure gauge connections on the front and back of the pressure regulator.
