Multi-position actuators

Pneumatic multi-position actuators are available with two different functional principles. According to the first principle, multi-position actuators consist of two separate cylinders which are connected together by a kit and have piston rods that extend in the opposite direction. Depending on the control and stroke distribution, this cylinder type can therefore assume up to four positions. According to the second principle, multi stage pneumatic cylinders consist of two to five cylinders connected in series with different stroke lengths. With this cylinder type, only one piston rod is visible, which moves to different positions in one direction.

High-force cylinders

A high-force cylinder is a cylinder design defined by a series of compact pneumatic cylinders. By connecting a maximum of four pistons in series, the force of the cylinder can be multiplied analogously. The resulting force is transmitted to the external piston rods and can be used by the customer from there. The resulting force is applied over the entire stroke – up to a maximum of 5 mm before reaching the end position.
The cylinder of the first stage is always used for position sensing, as it performs the visible stroke.

Tandem cylinders

These are two identical profile barrel cylinders of the DNC type arranged in series for doubling the thrust force in both directions of movement. By using DNC cylinders, the mounting interfaces comply with the ISO 15552 standard. This means that the mounting accessories from the DSBx and DNC piston rod cylinder range can be used as well as the piston rod accessories. Both profile cylinders of the tandem have magnetic pistons and can be sensed by means of proximity sensors. The proximity sensors can be easily and securely mounted in one of the sensor slots without any additional accessories. The energy can be reliably absorbed by the adjustable pneumatic cushioning. DNCT is available with a freely selectable stroke length up to a maximum of 500 mm either in a standard version or in a heat-resistant version up to a maximum ambient temperature of 120 °C.
