Shut-off valves allow the controlled opening and closing of piping and thus the compressed air supply in pneumatics. At Festo you will find on/off valves, ball valves and logic valves for pneumatic applications alongside check valves and quick exhaust valves.

Check and quick exhaust valves

Check and quick exhaust valves combine the function of flow and check valves in one component. The compressed air has free passage in one flow direction, while in the opposite direction the volume flow can be changed by an adjustment element. In conjunction with pneumatic cylinders, check and quick exhaust valves are often used to regulate speed. A shut-off valve that has proven itself in pneumatics and can therefore be found in our core range is HGL with a pilot-operated non-return function. HGL can be screwed in with an external thread, can be released pneumatically and is compatible with the connections M5, G1/8...G1/2 and QS-4...QS-12. The shut-off valves H, HA and HB with non-return function can be used in a variety of ways thanks to the connection threads and plug-in connections on both sides. The delockable check valve VBNF has a low overall height, can be rotated horizontally by 360° when installed and enables a high flow rate. The SE, SEU and VBQF valves are suitable for quick exhausting. The latter scores with its low overall height, high flow rate and reduced noise emissions.

Shut-off valves and ball valves

With shut-off valves and ball valves, the compressed air supply is completely shut off in both directions by a manual shut-off function. In pneumatics, on/off valves and ball valves are often used for the decentralized shut-off function of the compressed air supply.

The Festo shut-off valve HE and the ball valves QH, QH-QS, QHS-QS are manually operated shut-off valves. HE can be connected via thread or plug and fixed in different ways. The ball valve QH is installed directly on the line and has an internal thread on both sides. QH-QS and QHS-QS are installed either directly on the line or with a bulkhead fitting. Our hand slide valve VBOH is used to pressurize and exhaust compressed air systems, e.g. upstream of service unit component combinations, at air guns, and for exhausting pneumatic cylinders. VBOH is non-overlapping, so there is no risk of pressure loss when switching.

Logic valves

With the help of logic valves, simple pneumatic controls can be easily implemented. The best-known versions include AND/OR gates.

Our products VK-R-M5 and VLO-R-M5 are amplifier or inhibition modules for installation in pneumatic sensors. The Festo logic element ZK is an AND valve that links two input signals with one another in the AND function. Like the logic element OS that is used in pneumatic controls, it is fastened with a through-hole.
