Bionic Tripod 3.0

New ideas for automation technology

With the series of bionic parallel kinematic systems, our developers have taken a new approach to custom handling systems. In contrast to the common portal systems, the working and drive levels of the three applications are spatially separated.

The separation allows the use of ultra-light rod kinematics for maximum flexibility. The parallel kinematic systems are completed by the adaptive gripper fingers with Fin Ray Effect®, which we have tested and further developed in all three applications. The structure of the gripper uses the natural property of the fish fin: When pressed against an object, it gently and securely clings to its shape.

The evolution of the Bionic Tripod

While the rod kinematics of the two predecessors were suspended or horizontal, on the Bionic Tripod 3.0 they stand vertically on the work surface. The flexible gripper arm can be swiveled in all directions at an angle of up to 90 degrees, which enables a large working area.

Bionic Tripod 3.0: vertical system

For relief during arduous manual work overhead. Advantages due to the protected drive technology in dusty environments such as dry construction, in a bakery or a joinery shop.

Bionic Tripod 2.0: horizontal system

For tasks involving human-machine interaction, e.g. in agriculture for sorting fruit and vegetables, in industry for sorting valuable materials or as a "third hand" and ideal helper for all types of assembly.

Bionic Tripod 1.0: suspended system

Ideal for sorting tasks of pressure-sensitive objects of various sizes and contours, for example in food production.
