Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit

Rely on a targeted analysis of your compressed air systems for sustainable savings

As part of Festo Energy Saving Services, the compressed air energy efficiency audit offers you an independent and comprehensive analysis of your compressed air system. The condition of all components is inspected, from the compressor to the pneumatic application, completely objectively. Specific potential savings are then identified, and targeted measures proposed to optimize your systems and installations. The result: lower energy costs, lower CO₂ emissions and greater production stability without unplanned machine downtimes.

An overview of the service modules

During the compressed air energy efficiency audit, our auditors analyze your entire compressed air system, from the compressor room to the pneumatic application. They identify inefficient use of compressed air, locate leaks and recommend optimization measures. They examine the compressed air generation and utilization of the compressor as well as the compressed air preparation and quality, and the compressed air network. In addition, they carry out a representative leakage detection test on selected pneumatic systems, check the pneumatic efficiency and evaluate the potential savings.

Your benefits

  • Analysis of the current condition of complete compressed air systems, from the compressor to the pneumatic application
  • Recommendations for action and prioritization of measures to optimize energy efficiency
  • TÜV-certified in accordance with ISO 11011
  • Support in complying with ISO 50001
  • Energy savings of up to 60% is possible in pneumatic systems
  • Improved productivity and process reliability

An audit in four steps: This is how the entire compressed air system is put to the test

In the first three steps, the energy efficiency experts from Festo analyze the entire system's compressed air generation, compressed air preparation and compressed air distribution. Only then, in the fourth step, do you turn your attention to the pneumatic applications, i.e. the machines and systems themselves. You analyze the energy efficiency of these machines and systems and detect any leaks.

1. Analysis of compressed air generation

Non-proprietary analysis during operation: Power consumption and performance reserves of the compressors as well as the overall leakage level in the production plant.

Your benefits

  • Manufacturer-independent analysis
  • Analysis during operation
  • Transparent energy consumption of the entire system
  • Awareness of the compressors' output reserves

 Analysis of compressed air generation

2. Analysis of compressed air preparation

Additional measurement of compressed air quality. The goal: To increase the service life of the pneumatic components and avoid machine failures.

Your benefits

  • Assurance of optimum compressed air quality
  • Increased service life of pneumatic components
  • Minimization of unexpected production downtimes
  • Necessary adaptation of compressed air preparation

Analysis of compressed air preparation

3. Analysis of compressed air distribution

A pressure drop measurement for safe processes and reduced costs. This should ensure a constant pressure level – in the best case even with a reduced pressure level.

Your benefits

  • Reliable processes thanks to constant pressure level
  • Identification of unnecessary excess pressure
  • Reduction of pressure and pressure fluctuations
  • Cost savings thanks to a lower pressure level

Analysis of compressed air distribution

4. Analysis of pneumatic applications

Check whether drives, valves and tubing are optimally sized, whether blowing and vacuum applications, as well as installation and control concepts, are efficiently designed. Detection and documentation of leaks as the most important efficiency measure.

Your benefits

  • Transparency regarding losses in energy and costs and regarding CO₂ emissions due to leaks
  • Detailed list of necessary repairs including recommended spare parts
