Airborne geometrical band with inversion drive

SmartInversion is a helium-filled flying object that moves through the air by turning inside-out. This constant, rhythmically pulsating movement is known as inversion and gives the flight model its name. With the intelligent combination of extreme lightweight construction, electric drive units and control and regulation technology, inversion kinematics can be indefinitely maintained to produce motion through the air.

With the three exhibits SupraLinearMotion, SupraHandling and SupraPicker, Festo demonstrates the technology's potential for the industrial automation of tomorrow, showcasing contactless, linear movement, positioning in the level plane and handling in an hermetically sealed room.

The superconducting claw pole motor with solid-state cooling is characterised by its compact design, high holding torque and a long-life, electrical direct cooling system.

The octopus is a fascinating creature. As it has no skeleton and is made almost entirely of soft muscle, it is also extremely flexible and manoeuvrable. This not only means it can swim agilely in all directions, but also grip a wide range of objects in a form-fitting manner. The TentacleGripper now takes makes this phenomenon its own.

The pneumatic conveyor belt can transport objects in a targeted manner and sort them at the same time. It consists of numerous bellows modules that deform the surface creating a wave motion that transports the objects in a targeted manner.
