Advanced manufacturing industry's largest show returns to Chicago.
Festo Automation and Festo Didactic joined forces to tackle not only the digitalization of advanced manufacturing technology, but also how this has changed what employers need from their workforce.
Festo Didactic at IMTS: Smartforce Student Summit
Our interactive booth concept showed the latest breakthroughs in Industry 4.0 technology and career paths. Furthermore, we showcased exciting developments in bionics, and provided virtual reality tours to experience what it will be like in the near future to work alongside robots in a cyber-physical factory.
Bionics4Education - engaging students in STEM
This year, the Student Summit donated Bionics Kits from Festo’s Bionics4Education initiative to CPS (Chicago Public School) STEM schools. Each Bionics Kit contains the material to build three different bionics-inspired projects: a bionic elephant, fish, and chameleon. These kits were previewed in the US for the first time at the Student Summit at IMTS and will be available in 2019. “I am excited to be able to place a number of these kits in the CPS system and schools throughout Chicagoland.” said Greg Jones, Vice President, Smartforce Development.
The team arranged a visit to the Festo booth to receive a voucher for their kit on the day that they visited IMTS with their students. The kits will be available to their classroom in the first quarter of 2019.
Whether the students begin to consider a career in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Cyber-Security, STEM Teaching, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business Tech, Automotive Tech, etc., they will be able to explore the project based learning experience at the Festo Didactic booth.
