MecLab: The Complete System

MecLab is a compact introduction to the world of industrial automation technology and serves as a modular training system for technical education. Each station represents a realistic automation component and can be used individually or in combination.

In addition, the individual stations can be combined into more complex production lines. This results in end-to-end process chains that mirror real-world industrial workflows and offer a wide range of opportunities for project-oriented work.

After a brief training period, students will be able to work independently with MecLab. They analyze processes, plan workflows, implement solutions, and continue to optimize the system.

By exchange of components, standard exercises can be flexibly expanded and modified. Tasks can thus be tailored to different learning levels and continually adapted.

Modular & expandable: MecLab grows with you

MecLab is not a rigid system, but can be flexibly expanded. In addition to the three basic stations, additional modules are available, such as those for programming with microcontrollers (Arduino) or logic controllers (LOGO!). This allows the learning system to be tailored to different curricula, learning levels, and instructional goals.

Portrait of Dr. Sandra Funk

“With the MecLab system, we provide a practical and easy-to-understand introduction to automation technology. For students, it is crucial not only to understand technical concepts in theory, but also to actively experience and apply them.
Our teaching approach focuses on discovery-based learning, project-based assignments, and real-world application scenarios. In this way, we support STEM education and make an important contribution to imparting technical expertise as well as to the personal development of students. These skills are of central importance both for economic performance and for social progress."

User versions

MecLab adapts flexibly to different learning environments – from individual workstations, group work and project teams to a complete classroom set. Thanks to its modular design, the system can be adapted to different teaching methods and learning objectives, and is suitable for both structured exercises and project-based work. In addition, the compact design also allows for mobile applications.

Control and simulation software

FluidSIM Light / MecLab is used for the control, programming, and simulation of the MecLab stations. The software enables the development and simulation of automation processes in mechatronics and automation technology and helps students create, test, and optimize control logic.
Through vivid simulations of industrial processes, technical concepts can be clearly illustrated and then put into practice directly at the MecLab stations.
